Use Your Phone to Slim Your Wallet

When I hang out with any of my friends, I have no regard for their privacy and help myself to their wallet. I want to see what they are carrying around each day - how much stuff, if it’s needed, and what they could do without.

Friends who have bought the Bare Bones wallet have found ways to shove more and more cards into it. Sometimes it’s unavoidable, I get it. If only there was a way to have that stuff with us … but not have it with us?

Here are three ways we can use our phones to help lighten our load because, let’s face it, we’re not going anywhere without our phones.

STOCARD APP

I’m probably really late to the party with this one, and I say that because my 70 year old mother told me about this app … you read that correctly.

This app stores all your loyalty cards for when you’re shopping.

PHOTOGRAPH YOUR RECEIPTS

One thing that I can’t avoid is the build up of receipts. I fold them up and jam them in my wallet. Along the same lines as the Stocard app, you can photograph your receipts and they are just as valid as the real thing. Read more about it on Lifehacker.

If you want to get really organised, check out Evernote Receipts.

PAY WITH YOUR PHONE

This has only just been introduced in Australia, but slowly we’ll find more and more places where you can pay at the counter with your smart phone. There’s Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Wallet, and Pay Pal.

When it becomes more common, you may find you can leave another card or two at home!
